Cabernet Merlot 2012
Late spring rains followed by a mild, dry La Nina summer created a harmonious vintage. A cedary, spiced blackcurrant nose, wrapped with a hint of dusty, eucalyptus leaf. The palate shows ripe blackberry and mulberry with fine, chalky tannin’s from the Cabernet Sauvignon with some soft chocolate from the Merlot fruit. Cellar up to 10 years.
“A good example of cabernet merlot made to throw emphasis on the fruit flavours achievable at an attractive price, simply because these two varieties are so ideally suited to the maritime climate of Margaret River. It is medium-bodied, with mainline blackcurrant flavour, complexed by well balanced, ripe tannins and integrated oak. Perfectly drinkable now, but its best years are in front of it.” 92 points, James Halliday
“Another stylish expression of this classic Margaret River blend. Leafy tobacco-like characters on the nose with some bay leaf blackcurrant nuances. the palate is seamless and classically defines with fine tannin’s and quality integrated oak. Sweet dark chocolate and blackberry richness balanced by slightly chalky tannin’s. Nice wine.” 91 Points Ray Jordan The West Australian Wine Guide 2015
